TeaTalk: Tom’s not so Brady bunch

It’s TeaTalk time again, ladies and gents. Season 2 of the super fun Fright Krewe just dropped on Hulu, where you can hear me voice the character of Nelson Furst. I also did a cooking livestream on Amazon with the hilarious Jake Shane. Give both a watch and let me know what you think!

THIS WEEK’S TOP FIVE 🖐️

  1. 🏈 The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady was filled with nonstop burns from comedy stars like Kevin Hart, Nikki Glaser, and Jeff Ross. Variety has a great roundup in case you missed it.

  2. 🎤 Speaking of comedy, the stand-up industry is booming — it’s tripled in just ten years thanks to insane demand to see acts like Bert Kreischer, Taylor Tomlinson, and Gabriel Iglesias live.

  3. 👗 The 2024 Met Gala was even more dramatic and creative than expected. Vanity Fair highlights the wildest looks and biggest fashion swings.

  4. 🤖 Meta is giving its creator-brand matchmaking service, Instagram Creator Marketplace, a major AI upgrade.

  5. 📱Spotify is experimenting with rolling out short-form video clips across its platform after introducing them on artist profiles and album pages last year. Clearly, Spotify wants some of that TikTok love.

✨ ADVICE OF THE WEEK

There are so many ways to distribute and share content as a creator or brand, but livestreams are quickly becoming a game-changer for organically growing your audience.

Livestreaming gives you…

  • Constant visibility. With Twitch, YouTube, and Instagram giving live content an algorithmic boost, your chances of being discovered shoot up.

  • Real-time engagement. Livestreaming is one of the only ways to interact with your audience on the spot, allowing you to have more genuine moments with followers.

  • A stronger community. Through real-time interactions, your followers bond with both you and with each other, transforming these authentic interactions into a community with shared experiences.

  • Monetization opportunities. Brands are seeing the potential of livestreams and are actively partnering with creators that are genuine and engaging. This could even unlock monetization opportunities through fan support during your streams.

Remember: Just like posting, growth in streaming is all about consistency and authenticity. If your followers know that you’re bringing your authentic self at the same time every week, they’ll be excited to tune in regularly.

🔥 TIKTOK TRENDS

  • “EUPHORIA” — Kendrick Lamar’s first of three Drake-aimed diss tracks has caught fire on TikTok, specifically the rapper’s “I hate…” verse.

Takeaway: Reaction videos are a dime a dozen, but add some text to change the context and put your own comedic spin on what you hate.

  • “DO I REALLY HAVE TO?” — Users are highlighting the things they don’t really want to do but have to.

Takeaway: Throw up some text to show your obligations and pair it with a funny or over-dramatic video.

  • “I’M LOOKING FOR A MAN…” — Creator Girl On Couch jokingly sang, “I’m looking for a man in finance, trust fund, 6’5”, blue eyes,” and challenged DJs to make it the song of the summer.

Takeaway: DJs had a lot of fun with this one, remixing it into something cool… but go ahead and put one of those remixes on a video, fit check, or carousel for your own spin.
